At the age of 25, Loyle Carner called his father to say he was going to be a dad. His father responded to this news by hanging up the phone — but he then rang back some weeks later to say he wanted to teach Carner to drive. It was during these lessons, in a car called Hugo, that Loyle Carner began to mend his previous relationship with his father. For Loyle Carner's Hugo tour, we used the actual car from the driving lessons as a set piece on stage and told this story of hate giving way to forgiveness through the day cycle of light, setting sun to a new day's sun rise. To best utilise our Hugo Tour design for Glastonbury's West Holt stage, we were able to use our original set design, but have additional screen content that highlighted the day cycle of light. This addition added a layer of life to our initial set design, and was one of our largest audiences of the tour, ending the Hugo Tour on the ultimate high note.
